Big Brother Naija reality star, Pere Egbi, and controversial online pastor, Daddy Freeze, have dipped their hands on the reason flight passengers are asked to not use their smartphones during take-off and landing.
Pere had taken to Twitter to ask Nigerians to adhere strictly to the aviation officers’ instruction of switching off mobile gadgets during a flights take-off as a precautionary approach. He also asked them in the post to consider their health and safety first.
Daddy Freeze, however, countered Pere’s post and claimed boldly that the reason Pere stated as why devices should be turned off is false.
He argued that the electronic gadgets have nothing to interfere with an airplane, but that the phones-off rule was to avoid bad news before take-off and landing.
“Dear Nigerians, rest your minds, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING a mobile phone can do to the equipment of a modern aircraft even if the mobile phone is on a call during landing and taking off. I hereby challenge any pilot to debate this with me. The only reason why you are told to switch off your phones is for security reasons. So someone won’t call from the flight and say there’s a bomb or the plane is about to crash. Knowledge is power!”
